About the founder

Clinical experience, not guesswork

Axis Diagnostics was founded by Sarah Heaslip, an Advanced Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist based in Salford. Sarah held a senior clinical role within A&E and orthopaedic fracture clinics at Salford Royal, one of the North West's major trauma centres.

Her work involved diagnosing traumatic and non-traumatic conditions, interpreting imaging, and working alongside orthopaedic surgeons. She has also worked with professional athletes including Manchester United's Academy teams.

Axis was created to address patients being delayed, misdirected, or escalated unnecessarily due to a lack of early diagnostic clarity. Expert assessment, local imaging and consultant networks, all in one joined-up process.

FAQ

Questions we hear a lot

If something's not covered here, an introductory call is a good place to start.

This isn't a rehab clinic or a long-term treatment package. We focus entirely on diagnosis: working out what's causing your pain, whether imaging is needed, and what the right next step is. Our clinical reasoning is at advanced practitioner level, shaped by years in A&E and fracture clinics. If you need rehabilitation afterwards, we'll point you to the right provider.

No. You can book directly with us, no referral needed. If you have existing notes or imaging from your GP, we're happy to work with those too.

If you're unsure whether your injury needs emergency care, we can help you make that decision quickly. Our clinical background includes extensive A&E experience, so we're well placed to assess severity, screen for red flags, and advise on whether you need urgent care or can be managed with a clear plan and appropriate imaging.

Imaging is most effective when guided by a clinical assessment and used to answer a specific question. Without that context, scans often pick up age-related changes that aren't causing your symptoms, which can add confusion rather than clarity. We'll always arrange imaging when it's genuinely going to change the plan.

This is one of the most common questions we hear. Part of every consultation is helping you understand what's safe to do right now, whether that's returning to the gym, getting back to work, or modifying activity while things settle. You'll leave with clear guidance, not vague advice.

We guarantee new virtual appointment availability within 3 working days of enquiry. No long waiting lists.

Consultations are delivered via video call, so you're assessed from home without needing to travel or take time off. If imaging is needed, we arrange it at a local facility in Manchester or Salford. Home visit assessments are also available within approximately 12 miles of Salford. In-clinic appointments are planned for the near future.

This is exactly who we're here for. If you've been through rehabilitation but still feel unclear about the underlying cause, our diagnostic-first approach can help establish what's actually driving your symptoms and whether a different pathway might be more appropriate.

Missed appointments without prior notice will incur a 50% fee. Please let us know as early as possible if you need to reschedule.
